Cinema poster 3 autumn

Our relaxed cinema afternoons continue with a trio of films designed to get your foot tapping, to put a smile on your face, and a song in your heart.

By “relaxed cinema”, we mean that our space inside Prestwick Community Centre isn’t as dark as a traditional cinema, the film isn’t played as loud and booming, all of our films are shown with subtitles, and we serve refreshments throughout. All our volunteers have had dementia awareness training, and we’re on hand to assist where we can. Our environment is accessible for people with mobility issues, we have a separate, quiet space if you want to take a bit of time away from the big screen, and no one tuts if there’s a bit of noise or movement during the film. It’s …..relaxed. Come and give it a go.

The last Friday of each month, doors open at 1:30pm, the films start at 2pm, and finish by 4pm (or earlier).

August 30th: Annie
September 27th: The Full Monty…part of the BBC Music Day events (Music & Dementia)
October 25th: The Wizard of Oz….a Hallowe’en special, dress up is optional… 😉

This is all made possible thanks to our volunteers and support from the community. Thanks to Friends of the Broadway Prestwick for facilitating the screenings with their super pop up cinema kit, Berelands Nursing Home for the homemade cakes, and to Sainsbury’s for the choc ices and refreshments. What a team.
